This work tells the story of a small bird, represented by the flute, that has grown old and injured and is slowly left behind by its flock, represented by the organ. The feeling is both sad and inevitable. As the piece unfolds, the bird attempts to communicate with the flock, but the flock’s majestic responses drift farther and farther away, until they disappear completely.

The work uses a specific organ sound called “Nachtigall” that mimics a bird singing. If your organ does not have this feature, you can use a speaker that plays bird sounds instead. The best version is achieved by using both, so you get a stereo effect of birdsong.

You are free to play this piece, in full or in part. The sheet music is free to download and share. You don’t need to notify me, but if you perform my music in a public concert, please submit a performance notification (esitysilmoitus in Finnish) to Teosto, the Finnish music rights organisation. If you are unable to do so (or don’t know what it means), don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at contact@kuuraklaavu.com or send me a DM on Instagram or Facebook @kuuraklaavu, and I’ll answer!

Thank you for checking out my work! 🙂 Stars adore you!
