Ken on nähnyt horisonttiin
Kuura Klaavu
I wrote the melody and the lyrics to this hymn while working in the Old Church of Uusikaupunki. I started there when I was 16 as a kind of historical guide, and my job was to keep the church clean and tell tourists about its history. I spent five summers gazing outside at the sparkling sea, thinking that ever since the church was built in the 1600s, thousands of people before me must’ve done the same.
I wanted to capture that which crosses over centuries – the same kind of feeling that unites us modern people and those of the ages past. Buildings and societal standards change, but the sea is still there. Still, boats and ships come to greet us. Still, we all gather and gaze upon the horizon and its blue eternity.
MESSAGE ME for the G-major transposition!
Lyrics:
Ken on nähnyt horisonttiin
kun saapuu hiljaa huominen.
ken on nähnyt horisonttiin
kun lipuu laiva viimeinen.
Ota minut siihen laivaan
kun katson vaiti eiliseen.
Isä ota minut siihen laivaan
kun toivon tyyneen ikuiseen.
Ken on nähnyt tähtitaivaan
jok’ kruunaa katon kirkonkin.
Ken on nähnyt tähtitaivaan
jok’ ohjaa laivat takaisin.
Ota minut siihen laivaan
jonka tähdet ovat valinneet.
Isä ota minut siihen laivaan
joka löytää luokses uudelleen.
Ken on nähnyt sarastuksen
Ja pilvipurjeet taivaiden
Ken on nähnyt sarastuksen
Ja herran laivan iäisen
Ota meidät siihen laivaan
ja katso meihin jokaiseen.
Isä ota meidät vielä kerran
ja saata kotiin ainaiseen.
