I wrote this work while thinking of where my grandmother lives. I spent many of my childhood summer days surrounded by meadows, forests and fields. It was not a very fancy place – there isn’t even running water available – but to me, those gardens full of wildflowers, hay and grass were the most magical places in the world.

Grandmothers and their gardens aren’t forever, though. This sadness crept into this piece in a meaningful way to me. Once you’re an adult, almost all the time you’re going to spend there is already in the past.

You are free to play this piece, in full or in part. The sheet music is free to download and share.
