Turun Musiikkijuhlat: Tähtipölystä ihmiseksi

If we placed an observer 500 light-years away from Earth, they would now see Earth as it was about 500 years ago, when Gustav Vasa ruled Sweden and Turku was part of his kingdom. From 2,000 light-years away, one would already be observing the time of the Roman Empire. Light carries information from the past because it takes time for light to travel across space. Our light, too, continues on its journey: somewhere far away, someone might be seeing our birth right now... or, one day, our death. This performance is a continuous, half-hour-long story built around this idea. One day, everyone who has ever seen us alive will be gone, and we will have to trust the written word; we will have to trust a footprint in concrete, an old armchair, a family heirloom, or a faded photograph. In the end, even those things will leave behind only light, continuing its journey through space.
